Not only are traditional silver and Italian charms popular as bracelets, but the huge variety of themes, characters, symbols, icons, make charms perfect for expressing yourself in a pendant.  Smaller (usually) than traditional pendants, charms can send a subtle hint about the message you want to send – in some ways it can let you weed out the people who aren’t observant enough to pick up your message! And of course, charms and charm bracelets make perfect gifts for almost any occasion.

A tiny Peter Pan charm, for example, tells people that you’re young at heart and want to stay that way.  The whimsical little boy who never wanted to grow up is widely available in sterling silver and even gold – he’s quite popular! And hanging from a slender silver or gold chain sets him off perfectly.

Another very cool look is multiple charms on a chain to express a theme. Here’s a couple that I really like, one that expresses a Faith theme, and the other that ever-popular Love theme.  Select a few pieces that fit into the theme, pick out a nice chain to hang them on, and tell a story with your jewelry. This “layering” of charms onto a necklace has been very popular this fall, and would make a great gift for someone for the holidays!
