It’s coming up on that time of year again, and many people are starting to think about Halloween decorations for their homes, workplaces, and their own bodies. A unique Halloween trinket is a charm bracelet tricked out with the symbols of Halloween: pumpkins, ghosts, broomsticks, and other charms that represent this fun Fall season.

Like many charm bracelet themes, you can make it fun and simple, or you can spend some time researching what the different symbols means to come up with the perfect “message” bracelet for you or for a gift for a lucky someone. Fortunately, there are many choices available so that you can customize to your heart’s content.

The traditional silver or silver-plated dangle charm bracelet is the most familiar to some people. With this style of bracelet, individual charms are attached to a link bracelet with split ring.  A traditional silver Halloween charm bracelet loaded with charms looks fabulous. Sterling silver is the recommended metal for these bracelets – silver plate is just too fragile to hold up to normal wear and tear, and the plate starts peeling off very quickly. Gold (not plated!) is also a wonderful metal for a traditional charm bracelet, but it’s much more expensive than most people can afford.

There are also an infinite variety of Halloween charms available in the flat charms known as Italian charm bracelets.  With this style of bracelet, you slide on small “tiles” or flat charms to make up your bracelet’s theme. A Halloween Italian charm bracelet is a fabulous theme bracelet.

There are literally hundreds of thousands of choices of Italian charms to choose from in all types of material: metal, porcelain, glass, etc. You can even have charms with photographs on them, as well as engraved or painted designs. Italian charm bracelets are hugely popular because when you want to change the look, you just slide off the old tiles and slide on the new ones!

A third type of charm bracelet is known as the European charm bracelet or European bead bracelet. The Pandora brand charm is probably among the most well-known and widely imitated, although there are other quality brands as well as the usual imitation or knock-off European charm bracelets. With these, the charm has a whole in the center and it slides onto a round chain bracelet. They can also be dangling from a ring, as shown here. You can customize the look with different beads, spacers, clips, and base bracelets. The European charm bracelet can be the most expensive option, as authentic brand name beads and pieces can be expensive – often starting at $20+ per piece and ranging into the hundreds of dollars a piece for solid gold charms. That’s why generic or unbranded pieces are so popular – you can get them for a fraction of the cost of the originals, and in some cases the quality can be quite good. But be sure you know what you’re getting before paying any money!!
